my doc hold by starting fish at 9 months so I think you are fine!
I gave my baby starting at 8 months. (she is 9 months now and fine)

Tuna they say is not such a good idea because of the mercury. you could prob google for guidlines. I started off with regular fileted fish. dd likes sardines and salmon too. I plead guilty that lately I've been giving her some of my tuna when I'm eating it (its light tuna which is not as bad though- white tuna can ahave more mercury.)
