Do you mean laminating the hardcovered book with clear contact paper, and continuing the same piece of contact paper on to the first and last page, to try to keep the actual book from separating from the cover?
I think that should work.

Oh, the actual pages of the book. That would work really nicely, but would probably take a whole lot of time. If you're up for it... I say go for it!

Contact paper might be too hard to work with. Try to see if a local store can laminate it for you.
Then figure the expense of laminating per page vs. new books...

I try to buy mostly hard books, but I have a toddler to deal with. Should I buy regular paper books it would've been ripped to pieces.

rip each page out carefully. laminate them. you can bring the laminated pages and the cover to a mail supply store to have them bound with a spiral binding. that will hold better than a glue binding. which you can't redo if the pages are laminated anyway.

it'll cost you to redo all your books, though.

I dont think it possiable to punch holes for spiral binding in a hard cover book!

sure it is. worse comes to worse you use a drill. it's not hard. if that doesn't work, make a color copy of the front cover on regular paper and laminate that too. then have everything bound.

it's obviously possiable cuz there r hardcover books out there spiral bounded...but they r commericaly made...the local copy centers r store that would do it for u..their machiene's r not ment to punch hole through hardover books and it will prob. break the machiene.
