Golden Rum Cake

Golden Rum Cake

Cake:
1 cup nuts
1 pkge yellow cake mix
1 pkge vanilla pudding mix
4 eggs
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup rum, any kind

Glaze:
1/2 cup butter or marg
1/4 cup water
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup rum,any

Sprinkle the nuts into the bottom of your greased Bundt or 9 by 13 pan. You can make baby cakes with it too.

Mix the cake ingredients and then pour into the pan. Bake the Bundt for an hour at 325. If using another pan, adjust time accordingly.

After baking, let sit in pan for 10 minutes to set. Bring fat, water and sugar to the boil, then turn off the heat add your rum.

Remove cake from pan and brush with glaze. Let absorb. Repeat until glaze is finished. (I just dumped the whole glaze on a hot cake still in the pan since it was right before Shabbos and it was fine!)

This is a GREAT cake! I made a version of it for my superbowl party, and people are STILL talking about the cake!

Defy, think I could sent it for dessert for the meal I'm sending to my neighbor? her kids are all under the age of 5 iirc.

Yup. Lots of people are allergic to nuts. Also, kids under a certain age shouldn't eat nuts b/c of choking hazard.

Mine are very finely ground. But okay. I'm gonna send the hamantaschen that opened up instead.
