my brother is finding out today which hospital he will be working at and he is very very nervous. he is not religious but would say tehillim. does anyone know which one would be appropriate for him to say?

There's no formula per se but he could say the following: 20, the one corresponding to his age (years of his life +1), 120-134 (15 shir hamaalos).
If he's really industrious, he could say the tehillim for today 97-103.
Hatzlocho Rabba and it'll all be for the best.
