1.Anyone ever hear of the idea that one should not consolidate the crumbs on a table with the blade of a knife? (The dull side, that is. It's self-evident that one should not use the sharp edge.)
2. anyone know the supposed consequences of doing so?
3. anyone have a source for this?

Thanks! Let's hope they answer. did your g-ma mean it's like the opposite of a segulah, that if you do it you'll lose parnassah, or just that it is not one of the things ppl do FOR parnassah?

My Aunt does it. It's not a knife though, it's one long metal piece with a thin blade that sweeps the bread off tablecloth.

oh, and SaraG, can you try to find out if the issue is the use of a knife, or collecting the crumbs at all? thanks!

Yes, as SaraG said, a euphemism for the former.

I wouldnt think scraping off the chometz in the cracks with a knife has anything to do with collecting, sweeping off the crumbs from the tabletop?

I know it's a segulah for parnassah to eat the crumbs.
maybe, that's where this idea came from since it's the opposite of eating 'em?

Well, can you summarize the answer? Did they say yes, no or irrelevant?
