I know cheese cakes freezes well- but does a sour cream topping- or a cherry pie filling topping freeze well?

Probably not although I haven't tried it. I would suggest putting on the topping after you've taken the cake out to defrost.

My mom used to freeze cheese cakes with sour cream toppings. When we would defrost them the sour cream layer peeled right off, which worked for me because I don't like sour cream. :-)
