my DH likes themed shabbosim. last week was chinese, this week he wants italian.
I added some garlic and italian spices to the challah. I am going to make a ceaser salad and probably some minestrone soup (anyone have a recipe?)
but what else can I make?
all the real itlian recipes seem to have cheese and meat together.
any chicken ideas?
side dishes?
thanks!!

Not all italian recipe calls for cheese and meat.
Some ideas just top of my head...
roast chicken with herbs (sage, tarragon) and a bit of chopped lemon rind
flattened chicken breast (like schnitzel) panfried with fresh ground pepper and balsamic vinegar
skinless chicken breast cooked with tomato sauce and sweet peppers
lamb chops with rosemary
risotto (yummy esp with mushrooms or sundried tomatoes)
you can also make/buy parve pesto with pasta shapes
vegetable side dish with courgettes/zucchini or aubergines/eggplants
italian spinach or broccoli with sauteed chopped garlic

chicken marsala and chicken cacciatore are both good.
polenta squares can probably me made non dairy.
risotto or orzo with different veggies...
btw I think the idea of themed shabbosim is totally cute!
