my son has been learning a mishnayos and is almost done. I think that it is great and would like to make it into a little bit of a big deal:) My backround is not so strong and although my husband's is, I can't make it like a real siyum. I figured a nice meal, he can invite some of his friends and family and give a dvar torah. what do u think? anyone have any suggestions? has anyone here done this before or know a way that this can be nice and not too expensive? I just want him to feel like he did something special and that it's a big deal and that we're oroud of him. also, I feel like it would be nice for me to let his teachers or school know in some way, I'm just not sure how. thanks in advance!!

Mazeltov! What a lovely idea. Of course have a seudas mitzva, have your son give a dvar torah and learn the last mishna with his friends, and have him already start his next maseches with the first mishna.
And have him give zedoko, scchar mitzva, mitzva, the reward of a mitzva is to do another mitzva!
