Need answers ASAP about heimish graphic course!!!!!!!!!

Did anyone take a graphics course by a heimish lady???
I have sooooo many questions about it, dont know where to START!
I'd love if someone has the time to answer what I'm missing..
by either pm me or mayb I can call them!

I'm desperate for answers. The course is starting next week. It involves alot of money, and I'm not sure I'm ready for it!!!!!

I'm extremely naive in the field! but am interested to get to know it more...

1) What kind of job offers can I get after taking the course???

2) How much money are pple willing to pay for hiring g designers?

3) How do advertising companies work?? (most)

4)Why do I have to be creative to do graphics if you know the basics???

Did you ask for references?

Basic sounds basic are you getting enough knowledge or are you just saving money by taking an abridged course

I did ask for references, but pple sound very short to thepoint. They didnt want to get too detailed.

no no. She gives a full course full price!! But in order for me to wanna getinto it and invest. I want to make sure it's the right THING. And that its the career I want to get into.....

As of now I "THINK" that it's the right choice, again with no knowledge in the feild and what I'm really getting into...

It sounds like fun and exciting. I love to 'create' design etc. but who sais this is gonna bring out my passion.....
So I basically need a better picture of what graphic designers generally do!!!!

is the course going to teach design principals or just how to use the programs?

I'm a graphic designer, have an associates degree in desktop publishing. we learned print design-packages, letterheads, business cards etc. logo design Web design and a lot more. we also learned how to prepare files for the printer and stuff like that. one of my friends took a 'heimishe' course and is always calling me when she needs to prepare stuff for the printer

the instructor in the college could also be "heimish"

and just because you take a course on any of the 3 above mentioned programs in a college does not mean you will get hit with a good instructor. the "heimish" instructor may be more available for any questions you have even after the course.

just from my experience--been there done that

I worked with a few people who took heimish. some learned stuff others just knew basics... crativity helps a lot.

I've taught computer graphics (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign/Quark) at Maalot Baltimore for the last 10 years. Occasionally I teach someone privately -- I guess private lessons would be "heimish." The graphics field is less degree-dependent than most. Creativity and ability to use the programs count for a lot, although the degree helps show that you're not a "flake." One advantage to taking the programs in a school setting is that if you buy the programs while in school, you can get them at a huge discount.

my process?

get an idea of what you want to do, such as big image, little text, a few images and text etc. try to make a ruff sketch, find matching images and fonts and put it all together on the computer.

some clients provide text and images some want you to find your own...

if you are talking about the course in monsey..It's the best. they teach you everything in a short time. You can then go on and take an advanced course which they have occasionally. I took a course there. I am now a graphics designer/ freelancer
