I buy 3 shirts and 2 skirts - sometimes only 2 shirts if I have one spare that is rather worn, just fits etc. Plus you need one white one (preferably two since the white gets dirty quickly and sometimes there are 2 days Rosh Chodesh).

Yes. Check out landsend.com. FrenchToast.com. I haven't looked there in a while, but they used to be available.

Unless you do laundry every single day and can put the shirts in the wash daily, I don't think 2 is enough for a child of this age. They get dirty. Later on, from about 6th grade or so, I remember we wore white T shirts under our uniform shirts to keep them from being smelly (we didn't get them dirty by then) so we could wear them for more than one day.
I think that 2 skirts is probably enough.
My kids have a dress code, but no uniform. Since it's boys, I don't mind. For girls, I think it's the best thing AND the girls really look nice when they walk together. You can tell what school they are from etc.

well she came home and told me her friends said you have to buy 3 (with a whole reasoning behind it)
I'll probably buy another one and then see how it goes - I'm sure I can buy more if I need throughout the year.

I started out with 2 and saw that it wasnt practical
3 is basic - one in the wash, one on the child, and one in case I dont get to laundry in time!

I gave you the online things I remembered. If you go into stores such as Target and Walmart, I am sure you can get them for less. Light blue is a common color. Or, was when I lived in the U.S. It's common in Israel.

try the specialist school uniform shop - the type of shop that sells uniforms for expensive private schools. My kids school uniforms need to be bought from such a shop and they have plenty of long sleeved white polo shirts, not sure if they have blue though.

Actually I'd avoid specialist uniform shops as much as possible, if I can find acceptable alternatives cheaper somewhere else. For long-sleeved polo shirt, can you check John Lewis (they have good uniform section, prices not dirt cheap but quality is very good). Depending on the season Gap Kids or Uniqlo (not sure if they have kids, I did buy long-sleeved polos last year) may carry one. Possibly even Primark. Asda (George brand) allegedly offering wider ranges of uniforms.

I think I bought at least 10 for next year!! shock shock shock I do laundry every day, but DD is VERY picky about what color she wants to wear on what day (and just when I think I have it figured out, she changes the rules on me!!)...not to mention that Israeli shirts are so low-quality that we don't even have any hand-me-downs from one year to the next, much less from one kid to the next...

having a lot of shirts is a must or else they get dingy or you're doing laundry every day ... so for shirts she has 5 - could use 6 really ...

Oh, at least 3 shirts at any one time, and you may need to shop for this again in the middle of the year. they get dingy, ripped, stained, outgrown..., even lost but don't ask how.

I love the way new uniforms look.

Ruchel, I think there are many more frum schools requiring uniforms than there used to be!
