HELP. I need a new laptop and need advise. What should I be looking for? How much RAM (is 2 enough or do I need 4)? How much memory? Etc...
I want this computer to last a while and not be outdated in a year+.
My old computer has XP, should I bother with Vista? Wait for 7? or stick with XP???????

depends what you are using your computer for.
I have XP and Vista and used OS X (mac) I'm pretty happy with vista, no major complaints. Some retailers have an offer if you buy vista now they will upgrade you to 7 for free....
I would get more than 2 gbs of ram because the operating system uses almost a gb these days....

DS was running the 7 beta and got rid of it as it is still very buggy. I do not see it as a standard in the near future.
I would say a good mother board, a processor with a speed like 2.6 and 4gb ram. if you watch HD movies or use heavy duty graphics you may want to add a off board video card.
