got a gift certificate at this rip off boro park store and don't want to add much money cuz I want what I get to be from my friend so I wanted to know which umbrella stroller people would suggest. options are:
inglesina swift - 120
maclaren volo - 130
mia moda facile- 70 (if this is good I would get this cuz its just a little less than the gift card and then it will totally be a gift)

I need this for going on subways and busses (manhattan, etc)
let me know
thanx

I have the Volo (but paid under $100 for it new Confused ) and love it. It's worth every penny. What you see is what you get- no frills, super light and a cinch to open and close (I think even one-handed!), tiny and compact, and very, very durable. I would totally recommend it. We bought it when my oldest was just a few months old and I was pregnant with my second. I didn't want to do a whole lot of shlepping and this was just perfect for in and out of the car trips, malls and especially airports.

Btw, the Maclaren stroller has a basket underneath, and I don't think the Mia Moda does. (if that makes a difference..)

Are you referring to the Swift or Zippy? I have the Zippy and hate it (along with many others that I know) but I had the Swift for a few weeks as a temporary stroller and liked it much better.

I had a Zippy & only hated it because I'm too tall. But that is way out of OP's stated price range.

well tech I could but I really want to get something for the price of the gift certificate ($93 - the store charged her $7 just for the card - messed up) cuz I really want it to be something from my friend - not that it just goes towards s/t. also I love my main stroller (bumbleride flyer) and I really just want a lightweight one to go on and off buses and subways, so I'll be using it around once e/ other week so I don't want to spend a crazy amount.

does anyone know of s/o who has the mia moda?

The mac is definitely the sturdiest. How old is the child you'll be using it for? An older child doesn't need the recline.

I have the mia mode - It has a reclining seat and a basket, wheels ok. not too heavy, folds easy and compact - Its really not bad, but didnt last to long. I used it for my toddler for about 1/2 year and its shot!
