Do you not eat salty/vinegar/sour during 10 days of Teshuva?
Just on Rosh Hashana

DH's minhag is not to. DD is chalashing for pickles and soy sauce! I was so proud of her though - someone in her class was passing out pickles and she didnt take and said she wasnt allowed to eat them.

We are only Makpid on Rosh Hashanah according to my husband's Minhag. (Lucky me!)

never hed of not eating salty except for right before the fast but that just makes sense. On the other hand my grandmother fasted best on salty herring so go know. What is the basis for this minhog?

We don't eat anything sour or with vinegar for the whole month of Tishrei. I think we start eating it on Simchas Torah. That is our minhag. Salty foods I have never heard of anybody avoiding during the Teshuva days.

Thats why our local grocery sells horseradish, cole slaw and cucumber salad without vinegar during this time. At least we can still eat those things. Don't know what I would do without horseradish

Likewise, from Rosh Hashanah until Simchas Torah. Never either heard of not eating salty foods.

Sephardic custom is to use SALT and honey/sugar on challot for Rosh Hashanah.

We don't eat sour/vinegary things ONLY on Rosh Hashana.

We DO eat salty things though!!!

We don't... but just so u know I spoke to a owner of a big company & he said they dont change anything in the ingredient all they do is put on diff stickers.... LOL!!!!

We don't eat anything with vinegar from Rosh Hashana through Hoshana Rabba (the same time you put honey on challah instead of salt...the period of time you can say tashlich...)
But we do eat things with salt--that would be really hard to avoid salt for almost a month!

I didn't vote in the survey because my minhag wasn't an option.

Same here. Rosh Hashanah until Simchas Torah. Have never heard of the salt thing either.
