2 lg onions, sliced
oil for sauteeing
1 bag (or 2 cups) shredded green cabbage
salt & pepper to taste
12 oz medium egg noodles, cooked & drained
Saute onions in oil until translucent. Add cabbage & a little more oil so it won't stick to the pan. Saute until the cabbage is completely limp (about 20 minutes). Mix in the noodles and add salt & pepper to taste. Cook together for 5 minutes.

I use about 2 Tbsp sugar, 1 to 1-1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp black pepper. Taste as you season.

This is an Hungarian dish. When I was a kid, I could eat a ton of it. It is usually served hot, but I suppose you could eat it cold on a hot summer day.
It can also be made with ground meat. saute meat and onion untill the meat is no longer pink then add the cabbage. We ate it for a weekday dinner.
