LOL. I can't believe I wrote couch as well. OK, I went ahead and edited it. OldYoung you can catch your breath now LOL
By the way, labor couches doesn't seem like a bad idea.

When you're in Israel and don't speak the language and have a midwife delivering you without a doctor, a coach can be a necessity, not a luxury.

Just goes to show how everyone must know where their priorities are and what will work for them.
I'm a good example for your example above. I don't take epidural (had bad side effects from it)so I feel the need for help via a labor coach to get through labor more easily.
So for you it's something you can't understand, while for me it is very important.
Perhaps you don't understand this getaway, but for downsyndrome and many others it's a breath of fresh air and something they feel they really could use. Thank G-d we are all different, or else this world would be pretty boring. Just sayin'
I think you're absolutely right, and I'm form the camp that would rather spend on a labor coach than a getaway. Wink
If you have such a golden opportunity to spend time with good friends and money's not an issue, I don't see the problem and I think you should go for it! Keeping up with old friends can also can be a necessity for mental health and not a luxury
