Our year was very, very big and I think it's true that there were several different groups -- depending on building and class, staying for Pesach, etc it was easy to not really have shaychus with some others. But I do feel the ones I did have shaychus with really added a lot to my year.
I'll be honest and say that I probably got more out of Maalot and going back with some of the girls than just the one year in BC. Though I still formed friendships with people I didn't go to Maalot with.
I am unsure how anyone can say their year was the best without being able to sample other years. Perhaps they mean it was the best year of their lives vs best year of all the years the seminary was in existence?

I agree, I got more out of Maalot. But I think my experiences in Maalot and Bnos Chava enhanced each other, if that makes sense. I wouldn't have appreciated Maalot as much without having attended Bnos Chava, and vice versa too - Maalot helped me appreciate my Bnos Chava experience more, retroactively.

I was there 01-02 and I only see one other poster from that year on this whole thread!
I hated it, can't be more honest than that. I loved Mrs. Tarnish and the rare treat of Rabbi Kelman, but didn't enjoy even one other class.
I made a few great friends, but I found most of the girls to be way too snobby for my taste

I'm the other from 01-02. I loved seminary for the experience more than anything else. I loved Mrs. Tarshish and Rabbi Septimus' classes. Others were ok but those 2 were my favorite.
I loved being in EY for the year and even though we went on less trips because of the intifada, I fell in love with the country and it's the reason I live here.
I still keep up with 3 close friends from seminary.
