till now I've been giving my baby her baths in the sink but she's outgrowing it. Time to buy a tub. I remember seeing a few different companies. Anyone like one over the others? Untill what age do you usually keep them in the baby tub?

I love this tub!

it's comfortable, soft, portable, quacks when you squeeze the beak, and supports the baby without being uncomfortable. oh, and it's cheap. keep the baby in the baby tub as long as it's convenient. I used this tub with two kids. it's seriously great. don't go for tubs with gimmicks, they're really not worth the hassle.

I love the primo/euro bath. it has 2 sides, the first supports babies that can't yet sit on their own, and then when they can sit up you switch them to the other side, and they can you it up to 2 years old. I've used this tub for all my kids and absoutely loved it. I recommended it to plenty of pple. who also bought it and loved it.

I couldn't stand any of those bathtubs with placeholders for the baby. I wanted to be the one holding them in place, so I would be able to reach their entire bodies, etc.

We used a bathtub with a removable inclined seat (no gimmicks or whatever sticking out), and we never used the seat.

I used the above bath tub with sling thing for when they were newborns I loved it since I could wash with both hands. I never use dthe shower thing though I didnt knoe how to work it.

as my baby grew, I stopped using the sling and just used the bathtub. or I used the sponge in a regular bathtub and only filled up the tub like an inch and did a really fast bath cuz I didnt want her to get cold.

I really enjoyed the foldable baby tub, because it didn't take up much space.
FTR, baby tubs are small so if your baby is outgrowing the sink then I'm not sure if you should go with a baby tub.
We have a soft ring (no inflatable, a really nice and safe one) that we loved and loved. You lay the baby on it within the regular bathtub, and then when the baby is able to sit unassisted, the baby sits right into the ring. It was wonderful.

I think it depends on whether or not you have counterspace for a baby tub. since I don't, I ended up putting the baby tub into the big bathtub. it was such a waste because I'd have to fill it up and empty it out. this sling makes life so much easier!

additionally, I found that with the baby bath tub, I couldnt reach around the infant sling to fill a cup with water to pour over his body, but if I filled it up from the tap and poured it, the water level in the baby tub would get too high. with the sling I linked to above, that problem doesn't exist.

Yeah, why the hassle with the baby bathtub? Get on your hands and knees and give babes a bath in the big bathtub with about two inches of water. My baby loves it! There is no cleaning another bathtub and these baby tubs also take up space in smaller apts. and houses, especially with all the other baby paraphanelia that one has. I would skip this one ( and I do!)

I thought I'd be the only person to say that. Skip the baby bathtub. The regular bathtub works just fine.

Just two years ago I thought that was nuts. Since then I've done it with two babies. My 5 week old even has baths in the big bathtub.

I don't own one either. I use a basin from the negal vasser until they sit on their own. I then transfer to the big tub. They love the freedom of splashing in the water.

how do you keep yourselves from getting nervous about slips and bumps?!! We have a huge porcelain tub - and I still haven't figured out how I'm going to transfer our dd out of the baby bath that we received as a gift from a friend (http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-M3177-Bath-Center-Rainforest/dp/B00106IAGO).

I had this-

its foldable, I kept it on top of my stackable washer and dryer. we put it in the sink, filled it there, it had a drain so I didn't have to shlep a heavy thing.

when she started sitting up in the bath and would refuse to lay we just put it away and used the sink.

we graduated her to the bath but my husband insisted on getting this bath seat:

she loves it, can splash in the water but we don't have to worry about her slipping out of our hands.

We have this one: http://www.target.com/Fisher-P.....thtub
It got really good reviews on babiesrus.com- I found that site really useful because there are so many people who write reviews.

thanks so much to all who replied. One more question: at what age did you start giving your baby a bath in the regular bathtub?

I agree that its great at the beginning you can give them a real bath without getting their belly button wet.

This one is awesome. I've been using this almost since right after my baby was born. Your baby doesn't have to be able to sit on his/her own yet.... It folds up easily, the seat is made of mesh, it is virtually a holder for the baby without interfering with the actual bath. They also stand by their product. I had one issue with it. The headrest tends to get moldy. It happened to my first one, I let them know and they sent me a new one with apologies. It happened again and I just threw out the headrest, as it is not really necessary and it is removable. Now I have two!
