overeating is totally stress-related with me. when I'm cognizant of that, I can control it by saying this phrase to myself over and over: you are not hungry, you are not hungry.... then I can distract myself with a piece of gum or something and the desire to eat passes.

If you're hungry it's not called overeating, it's called eating.

Yup. Interesting that you use the word "greedy". I think I am too. A book I read talks about this greed. It's called How to Survive Your Diet by Linda Moran. She says that every time you want to overeat even though you should be full you should ask yourself if you're not being greedy. So I asked and said "yes" and kept going... embarrassed
