My pediatrician recommended polivisol for the baby and well....it has a GROSS smell and I think an equally bad taste! Yesterday I gave it in the highchair after breakfast and was obvious baby hated it.

How did you give your bb vitamins?

Babies have a very limited sense of taste so even though to us it tastes horrible, babies usually don't mind polyvisol. I would try giving it a few more times before you give up. It may just be that the baby is not used to eating from a dropper. Try giving very little amounts at a time. If that doesn't work, ask your doctor about trivisol may be better tolerated by your baby.

It does smell gross. I find that the only way it doesn't bother my babies is to mix it into yogurt or applesauce. I usually drop the liquid into the side of the yogurt but don't mix it completely -- just give a few spoonfuls first plain, then a few with the polivisol, then back to plain. They never as much as flinch when I do it that way.

I give it straight - if you start with it early enough (4 months) the baby accepts it just fine.
