DH has a business contact , a really good guy with cancer. Is there anyway to say Tehillim for a non-jew?

Sure - you just say tehillim, but for someone who isn't Jewish. You can always pray for someone, Jewish or not.

The only different AFAIK is that if you don't know his mother's name, you would say "ben Chava" instead of "ben Sarah."

When praying for a non-Jew, you say [name] ben/bas [father's name], IIRC
