I give my small infants, as young as a week old, chamomile tea when they cry for no reason esp after a feeding. it seems to help.

I tried to do this for my son when he was cranky in the evenings but he didn't like the taste. It's safe and many of my friends swear by it.

how much tea do you give to a newborn? Is it safe? Also do you give it with a bottle or a dropper?( im exclusively breastfeeding and my baby seems to have lots of gas)

I would steep the teabags as usual, and add some more water so it's more diluted. I put in a drop of sugar, not too much. I gave it as a bottle, but not a huge bottle, probably abt 2 ounces.

There are companies that sell granulated camomile tea especially for babies but they add too much sugar. Camomile is perfectly safe and there is no reason to avoid it. It not only soothes the stomach but is generally relaxing. I would use it before any drug store preparation.

It helps with gas. It should NOT be given too often, as it dilutes the blood.

I gave it to my baby whenever she screamed at night until we started giving her reflux medication. It was very helpful. It also helped her whole body relax - and a lot of times after she drank it she had a dirty pamper. Just a note: My pediatrician says that gas and reflux are very closely related.

I still give 22mo dd chamomile with lavender, and she really enjoys it. (Traditional Medicinals makes this flavor. I find the lavendar takes the bitterness from the chamomile.)

my dr. said you should give gripe water you buy it in a health food store. I actually did try it but it must have a bad taste so my daughter didn't like it ( so I can't say if it helped) but about the tea that I use to give when she use to cry or constipated and that helped her a little. Also cause warm water sooths there stomachs
