I know a few shimon elimelech.

My older one is named Shimon Moshe and the combination goes very cutely together IMO.

Shimon Elimelech is a fairly typical combination for those who've waited for a while. I know quite a few with that combo.

Do you know what the connection is?
Yes. Shimon after Reb Shimon and Elimelech after R' Elimelech M'Lizensk.

No, the connection between R' Shimon bar Yochai and R' Elimelech M'Lizensk and infertility.

What Mama Bear said.

R' Shimon promised that he will personally intervene on behalf of those who come to daven at his kever for ZSH"K. R' Elimelech I'm not sure how it came about, but I know many who go to his Kever for this purpose.

OP here.

Wow! I had no idea there was an association between Shimon Elimelech and infertility.

So two questions:
1. given that it is a common pairing, does anyone know of a Shimon Elimelech who was prominent in the Jewish world?

2. is the association so strong that it will be weird for me to name a 3d, 4th, 5th child Shimon Elimelech when I've never had any IF issues and the spacing my children makes that obvious?

People might just assume he's named for an elter zeidie. If you like the name, I wouldn't worry.

don't know if you already had your baby or if you picked a name yet, but my son had his bris on purim and his name is Daniel Yaakov. Daniel was known in the megilla as Hasach, the person who passed the messages back and forth between Mordechai and Esther. And Yaakov is for "shoshanas Yaakov.." Good Luck!
