I also prefer stainless to Calphalon. I used to have Calphalon and hated it. Can't go in the dishwasher. Can be warped by putting in cold water after cooking.
If I were buying new pans today I would buy All-Clad.

Hard anodized is not supposed to be put into the dishwasher.
I love my Calphalon tri-ply stainless for meat. I have Kirkland (made by Calphalon) hard anodized dairy pots. I'm very happy with them.
I have noticed that you need to keep the flame lower with these pots because they conduct heat much better.
