Is sponsoring sheva brachos considered the wedding gift?

I guess what I see from these posts is, some of this relates to the different circles we come from and what is considered whose responsiblity in a wedding.

In some circles, the parents assume financial responsibility for the wedding. In some circles, this also includes Sheva Berachos. In other circles, responsiblity for the wedding is on the couple getting married, and whether or not they have Sheva Berachos is not a given, but a gift.

When I got married my parents paid for my wedding and Shabbos Sheva Berachos, but I didn't know if I'd have Sheva Berachos the other nights, till friends/family offered. So I certainly considered it a gift when my siblings and SIL's and friends of ours offered us Sheva Berachos.

In other circles, I gather the parents make all of the arrangements so making a Sheva Berachos might be seen as a favor to the parents. Especially when it's the parents' friends who make the Sheva Berachos, not friends of the Chosson/Kallah.

Yup. It is. Maybe its different in really wealthy communities. But I think in most communities it most certainly is, even if you are sponsoring it with other people (which people usually do).
