I'm on the market for a new refrigerator, and am wondering about the pros and cons of buying a top refrigerator/bottom freezer vs freezer on top and fridge on bottom. Some of my friends complain that the bottom freezer version doesn't allow for organizing. Any input would be much appreciated. TIA.

I had a choice and chose side by side, hands down. Usually (unless the whole unit is very big and/or very expensive) the fridge unit is much bigger and the freezer unit is much smaller in the up and down models. I usually need much more space in freezer than fridge. How much fresh stuff do I use a week? yogurt, milk, cheese, fruits, veggies, eggs, drinks, leftovers. it usually either just fills or is not full at all. The freezer is always full because I buy things on sale. I will stock up on chicken or frozen veggies or even bread or french fries on sale. I freeze some meals, sometimes challah etc... I need bigger freezer space, which the side by side provides with equal to the fridge space.
