I hope you figured out what to do. I understand the op's mother. she is hurt by not being named after and feels she should be honored.
I was reading the thread and I think what chocolate mousse was saying was that in Lubavitch they don't pass the baby from wife to husband when they are in niddah. I had a kvater who told me they put the baby on the table (on the pillow) since they don't pass to each other, niddah or not.
