Hello Ladies,
First of all, I know there is a purim forum but I wanted to be anonymous because I like our theme to be a surprise for family and friends.
So our theme this year is 'Canadian', we live in Canada and our flag is red and white.
So far we will all be wearing red and white clothes with Canadian flags.
I have red and white plates and red and white candy canes.
My dilemma is I don't know if I should go the noshy route, or the more healthy route.
Either I can just put tons of red and white nosh: like red and white jelly beans, red soda can, red chips bag, red licorice . . . . This is easy because it can be bought and made in advance.
Or I can go a healthy theme. Maybe red and white veggies with a white dip, like: red little tomatoes, cut up peppers, radishes, mushrooms . . . (any other ideas?) or I can have a red and white fruit themed shalach manos with: red apples. Pomegranates, cherries, strawberries, raspberries . . .
What are your thoughts?

You could do a combo of both and make the containers tie in to the theme....but all nosh is just too much junk, imo.
We just dump half the junk or sometimes we send it in to work with my husband.

What's particularly Canadian about pomegranate??? We have plenty of red/white foods that are indigenous like authentic bagels with lox & cream cheese, McIntosh apples, ketchup chips, Cott Cherry Soda, packs of Savoura tomatoes, etc.
But I'm a theme Grinch, so maybe not the best person to respond.
