Happy birthday, and have a Shnas Hatzlacha.
A birthday is an occasion for rejoicing, it's a time to thank Hashem, one of the minhagim of Yom Holedes that the Rebbe spoke about is to make a shehechiyanu on a new fruit, for this inyan. so your mood is appropriate!
Also to make a gathering of friends or family in which we give brochos to each other, the baal Yom Huledes, and the participants, and the birthday celebrant makes good hachlotos in thir presence.
We are celebrating another year of life in which we've had the opportunity to grow in Torah and Mitzvos, and we make hachlotos to add in our avodas Hashem in Torah, tefillah and tzedaka (mitzvos) in the coming year. On this day "one's Mazal is Gover (more powerful)" All in all it's pretty amazing!
