I am looking for a closet rod to add to a very narrow closet- the closet is only 18" wide. (Something like this- http://www.amazon.com/Closet-D.....r=1-4)
I do not seem to be having luck doing a search online. Whatever I see seems to be a certain width and that's it.
Do you have any ideas for me?

A strong tension rod will probably do the trick. I used one for many years in my closet and it never fell down. I would start with something intended for closet or shower - a curtain rod may not be secure enough.
Search the internet for "18-inch tension rod." There are plenty. Some may come with mounting hardware too.
