My SIL has one like that. I am not sure it exactly the same. It is a cute idea and makes challah that almost looks braided. Hers are on the large side though. I think she said she gets four pans from 5lbs of flour made into dough.

Anyone? I'm also thinking of buying it and wondering how the shape really comes out and how many challas it makes from a 5 lb batch...

If you bake it in this pan, how does the bottom of the challah come out straight?

I know a couple of people who have this pan and none of them have been happy with how the challah comes out.

I think you have to take it out in middle and bake it right side up.
I find the idea is missing the point a little. We braid challos with six strands to represent the lechem hapanim. These challos have the look but are missing the mark.

I have used mine and baked them upside down all the way through. I prefer non challah looking pans, just plain loaf pans. I have severe carpal tunnel syndrome and cannot braid. the instructions say to take them out at the end to just brown them, but I have never needed to. I believe if you take them out half way through they would be ruined.

I can't braid easily either, so I make six balls (to represent lechem hapanim and have 12 with the two loaves) and put them in each loaf pan. It is a lot easier than braiding and looks pretty IMO.

They're really popular!
They also just came out with a smaller size.
I guess if you make a 5-lb batch, you'll need a few of those.
but if you buy the nonstick challah pans, these are around the same price or cheaper at $14.99/ea

You know, I used to do that, but today, I made bagels ( first a ball and then a hole in the ball and even out) and was reminded that making balls is almost as bad as braiding for me. My left hand feels downright arthritic...
