I am having a small scale bas mitzva, But I want it to look very elegant, yet good for a teenager. The party planner said I should match the colors to the room. The room is like a yellow and brown and cream color. Do u have to match the color scheme to the room or can u just do any colors? Please give your input

Mazel tov!
I thought of adding pink to the colors, so I put yellow and pink into coulorlovers.com search: http://www.colourlovers.com/pa.....+pink
I think the colors should go along with the room; they don't need to match per se, but they should not clash with the room's colors.

You do not need to match the colors to the room. Yellow/brown/cream are neutrals, unless the yellow is very bright. Most catering halls are designed so you can choose your own color scheme. Just take a look at the chairs and make sure they won't clash with your tablecloths, as they will be right next to each other.
Light yellow and cream are a very elegant combination, if you want to go with that. Does your daughter have a color preference?

I'm no expert, but it seems that any warm colors (as opposed to cool colors) would work.
- Yellow?
- Apricot? (too 80s?)
- Pink?
- All white/cream? (<-- might look too much like a wedding)

Here's a crazy idea... as the birthday girl what colors she'd like you to use.

I agree that you should ask your dd what colors she prefers, it's her day!
If she doesn't care, then you can decide to match the room
Here are some colors that would look nice
Gold
Teal
Peach
Green
Orange (if dd would like something bright!)
Try to match the tableclothes with the room, and then throw in a splash of color with napkins and centerpieces. You can use cream color tableclothes, and then add peach naplkins for example, with peach flowers tied with a gold bow. Very elegant, and very girly, and matches with the room.
