What do all amothers suggest- should we diet over Shavuos or just dig in and ENJOY?????????
Is it worth taking a 'break' or will it wreck havoc in the long run?
What does/will everyone do come yom tov?

Diet, or simply watch intake. Not worth the repercussions afterwards.

Keep the diet, but taste a bit if you can control that it stays a bit.

That's what I meant to imply
Stay as strict as you can, but enjoy some of the yom tov food.

I try to internalize the idea of eating what my body needs to where there's no conflict between eating right and enjoyment. I don't always succeed, but that's the goal.
So on Shavuot like any Yom Tov (or Shabbat for that matter) my plan is to prepare and eat healthy food that I particularly enjoy, and a little bit of dessert. No "break" but also no real restrictions.

When I'm surrounded by tons of calorific food, I fill up on water and healthy food first (proteins, healthy fats). Then, once I'm full, I look around at all the food and choose a small portion of one or two favorite things. So I won't taste ALL the cheesecakes, just my favorite caramel one. Or if I do want to taste them all, I'll take one teaspoonful of each, totaling one slice.
Then I'll fully enjoy it, with no guilty or stuffed feelings.

This is a good attitude.
I don't think it's worth eating too much junk food on Shavuos. "A moment on the lips; forever on the hip" is what I remind myself!
