if you take heavy duty tin foil and cover your stainless steel kitchen sink
pour in H20 and put in some tide - dunk your silverware in it.
And presto it is polished.I have never tried this but I heard it works.

I've heard (and seen) it with baking soda, I don't know about tide, though.
