You can look at mommypoppins.com for day trip ideas. There is a ton to do in the 5 boroughs - you can go to the plaster gallery in Brooklyn or one of its equivalents in Manhattan - I took my kids to Little Shop of Crafts on the UWS last year and had a great time. There are lots of children's museums to visit. Bounce U seems like a great trip, but they have limited hours.

I'm planning on going to Sony Wonder which is supposed to be a great interactive hands-on center & the admission is free but you need to reserve a week in advance to guarantee the free tickets.
