I've been working as a SEIT for over 5 years and nearly every year I go through the "SEIT or teacher" debate. On one hand is the flexible hours I get for SEIT, more or less hours if I have the time (ie kids in school till later or need to be home by x...) but on the other hand is the monotonous work I find more in SEIT work. The fact that it's less children, less challenge ( in one case I have this year, I feel like he doesn't 'need' me so much) and just the fact that as a teacher you get to interact with more children.
Of course, there's the fact that being a teacher obviously require a LOT more prep and more time.
any opinions from someone who has done the switch from one to another?

I've gone through the debate for the past five years too, only in a different way. I do SEIT in the morning and resource room in the afternoon. I would love to do only SEIT, I enjoy it more, flexible hours, and better pay, but I'm always too nervous to give up my set salary, even though they keep lowering it...

yes, the salary, per hour is better. But lately, I feel like with all the missed days (weather, Yomim Tovim, sick, me OR them etc) I feel like I'm not doing all too well! Add to that is the whole "work in public school" debate but that's a WHOLE other story
