I don't know.

why do ppl say mazel tov?

my parents always said mazel tov, maybe someone will have a baby, or someone will get engaged etc.

so to me breaking a glass in a good sign

LOL LOL as I'm writing this I'm laughing at myself. it really sounds funny.

my mother also always says "mazel tov" - it's cause they break a glass by a wedding and we say "mazel tov"

so the question becomes is if it is supposed to be a moment that we sadly remember the bais hamikdosh even on our happiest day, do we remember the bais hamikdosh when we break a glass and are we sad - or is it good luck - it's confusing
