I recently got a new smartphone. It works great indoors. However whenever I'm outside in the sun or in a car (not in the driver's seat, lol) on a sunny day, the screen goes blank and I cannot see what I'm texting or even who is calling. It is very frustrating. I'm wondering if this is a common problem, or is my phone defective. Also, any solutions about how to get rid of the problem. Thanks for your advice.

It's a normal problem. you can get an anti-glare cover which should help.
