I was looking through some old things and came across this poem I wrote a few years ago. It is one of my favorites and feels appropriate for today. Some people who know I wrote this may recognize me here—oh well  Here it is.
Rain.
Light pattering
On
the ground.
Soft—almost gentle
a whispering sound.
Rain.
Steady now.
Continuous fall.
Dropping,
sopping,
wetting
it all.
Rain.
Now strong.
Falling
so fast.
That whisper
now louder.
Indeed—a blast.
Rain.
Heavy rain.
Torrential—a storm.
Pouring,
roaring,
way beyond norm.
Light—
or steady;
Strong—
or heavy.
Each one best
for the time
it’s given.
Each one
a blessing,
though sometimes,
hidden.
Life.
Starts lightly.
Birth
is found.
So soft—so gentle
a whispering sound.
Life.
More steady
Continuous,
tough.
Both dreary
and scary,
more than
enough.
Life.
Comes strong.
Passing
too fast.
That whisper
now louder.
Indeed—a blast.
Life.
Now heavy.
Drawing to close.
Soul gripping
but slipping
to from Whom
life flows.
Today
Life is steady,
seems tough,
we aren't ready.
But—
soon enough
life will come
Strong
and stronger still
then heavy
and heavier
set against our will.
So—
enjoy today
while you have it.
Enjoy now.
Grab it.
