I loved the books people sent. Cute books on his age level that we would never buy because the frummy ones are so expensive, or even cute secular ones that I usually borrow from the library but never buy. Also its a nice, inexpensive gift for a family to bring.

Books or a sign that says the bracha for tzizis along with two hooks to hang the tzizis on. Everyone that I got this for loved it and I also have it.

If it doesn't have to be specifically Jewish, you can consider a fun construction set, a classic book ( e.g. Goodnight Moon, Brown Bear, One Duck Stuck) or one of those cute toys that teaches them how to zip up or button or tie shoes. Educational toys are the best!
