Honestly, probably not. In general, my dh is in charge of home maintenance and improvement. So he's the one hiring someone when it's a job he can't do himself. He's often the only one home when the work is being done, so there would be no advantage in terms of yichud. And while he's thrilled that I am capable of doing some things that he has difficulty with, I don't think his ego would deal well with a different woman doing "his" job.

I also would because of Yichud, but I would feel bad to give hard work to a woman. I already feel bad for my cleaning lady sometimes......

I did hire a woman painter once, and was thrilled that there would be no yichud problem.

until the day of the painting arrived and I needed to be out of the house for an emergency and my dh had the day off so he was at home with her almost the entire time.

it ended up being exactly the opposite of what I had hoped for.

If she's competent and reasonably priced, I'd probably hire her without a second thought. I am uncomfortable with men coming into my home, especially if they are not Jewish, and I am alone. I'd much rather have a woman. My computer repair person is a woman. And she's cheaper and more competent than most men.

sure, sounds like a great idea. I hate having men come fix things when I home by myself. I would love it if there would be women available. And I have friends that feel the same way.
