A fuller verbal portrait can I give
Than one to which my own eyes tempt me
For evermore as long as I shall live
To imitate I shall attempt thee.
A sensibility of the truest sort
That closes not upon its own expression
But by its fineness makes a firm retort
To those who were, and are, their own obsession;
An eye that sees with romance and makes pure
All that shame, and lies, and money have corrupted;
A quiet diffidence that will endure
Till by a better, truer era interrupted.
And missing, much-deserved pride take its place
And crown your ever perfect loving grace.
