I had a mother until my very early teens. I loved her very much and I know she loved me. She wasn't the most demonstrative person but I have no doubt about her love. Her kids were her top priority.
This thread is a difficult one for me to read but I am forcing myself because I have no idea what it is like to have been mothered as a teen and this really affects my own mothering. I so want to be a good mother and I really have no role model for the teen years. I think that overall b"h I have a good, open and trusting relationship with my kids but I always have a feeling that I'm winging it. Thank you everyone for sharing. Some of the replies have been fascinating and very insightful. For some of you this is obviously very painful too.
