DS had someone scrape his face about 2 months ago.
There was a scar for a while, now there is new skin but there is a reddish mark that is not going away.
What is safe and effective to use for this?
Anyone use mederma? or the generic version?

Apply Vitamin E oil twice a day.

I used mederma when my son got stitches on his forehead and if you are consistent it usually works

Give it time and it will fade to almost nothing. DS had a huge scar (think close to 4" long and very thick) on his forehead that he got has a 2½ year old. By the time he was 18 you didn't notice it at all unless someone pointed it out to you.

Kelo-cote. Recommended by plastic surgeon and was very effective.

How long did it take to see results? DD just got stitches a few weeks ago on her face and we have been using it. Did it take the scar away completely or just make it lighter?

IIRC, we used it for 12 weeks. If you know where to look, you can see a faint line (10 stiches in middle of her forehead), but otherwise unnoticeable.

Our son's plastic surgeon recommended Scarguard when DS got stitches on the bridge of his nose. Worked very well.

ds had stitches on his forehead 2 yrs ago. We used mederma for a looong time. Scar is still visible. But that cud be due to the scar tissue. the scar is on a bump, making it much more noticeable.
