My dd (5)'s bday party will be shortly before purim.
I thought a purim themed craft would be nice.
Since it's going to be a relatively big group, I need it to be something I can easily find the supplies for. So no raashan made out of toilet paper rolls, I wont have enough.
And I'd like to keep it low cost.

Any nice ideas?

I just picked up in amazing savings, in Brooklyn a cute craft set. I believe it was 12 sets for 3.99. Each set contains a ring, bracelet and eye masquerade mask all from foam that the kids get to decorate. Decorations are included. They come individuals packaged so that's nice.

eta it was 8 sets for 3 dollars

I remember a craft in a mag. dont remember which one.

To make butterflies you fill a ziplock bag with smarties half full and get the kids to decorate a wooden cloths peg like a butterfly body and then you stick the peg in the middle of the bag with half the smarties on either side and voila, a butterfly.

crowns or mm baskets. both could be done quite cheaply. you can print out crown templates and buy fake gems, fake fur, other stuff to decorate. gold cardboard would be nice.

mm baskets loads of ideas -google.

Paper bag or popsicle stick purim puppets.

Have kids decorate their own clown cupcakes (a huge hit when my pre purim DD was 5).

You can make raashanim out of water bottles and dried beans, then decorate. Easier to get a bunch of those than all the tp tubes.

Thanks for all the ideas.

I know it all seems so simple and I'm usually good at these things, but where I live everything is so expensive.

I dont want to spend to much and even something like plain masks will cost me around 2 dollars a piece. I once wanted to paint t-shirts and couldnt find ones for less than 7 dollars a piece. It's all a little crazy here.

Thanks imasinger, but I cant see anything about international shipping and I doubt it would stay cheap. I'm not in the US.

I would make "maracas" which they can use to make noise in shul during hamans name...

easy, and cheap

SUPPLIES (for one pair of maracas)
2 eight oz (236 mL) water bottles
2 toilet paper rolls
Electrical tape & masking tape (colorful, if possible)

maraca filling:
Sand, salt, pebbles, birdseed, rice, beans, small beads, large beads, dried pasta, rice, dried peas or beans, small washers, paper clips, small erasers.

First take your clean and dried 8 oz water bottle and fill with your chosen contents. Close it up with the cap .Take your two toilet paper rolls and make a straight cut from one end to the other. Tighten the roll in on itself to about the size of a ¾ inch dowel and then apply your electrical tape. Start wrapping the tape around the bottom part of the rattle on the bottle and move down onto the new handle. Wrap slowly, covering all the cardboard of the toilet paper roll. then wrap your water bottle from top to bottom with masking tape, you can then decorate the bottle with paint, markets. glue things on it.

Girls like making necklaces and bracelets.
Plastic beads and stretchy string shouldn't be that expensive.
Also, decorating cupcakes is fun.
