I've no idea how far Monsey is from BP, but you make it sound like the mother's having a few hours vacation.
Sorry, but I find this really sick. If someone has a baby, they should be responsible for him and having a 'vacation' when he is 8 days old and is in pain, is not being a responsible mother to me.
Exploding anger

If someone's minhag is not to be at the bris, at least be nearby so that you can take your baby asap and give him a nursing and a cuddle.

My sister never went to her kids' brissim. I did, because I had no one to stay home with me and I wanted to hear borchu in shul anyhow. Were it up to me I probably wouldn't have gone because I had absolutely nothing to wear and had to put on a maternity outfit! Exploding anger
