thanks for your concern Smile
passengers bentched ha'gomel, they emerged 100% fine (yes, there was a Chitas and a pushka in the car)

but now we are minus a car and it's difficult to do Pesach errands without one

on the plus side - it doesn't have to be cleaned for Pesach

I have plenty more than the kitchen left to do, and our car was totaled a few weeks ago. Also need to shop for food, so there's something to cook. Happy now?

Mr. Green I did the kitchen already and the car Mr. Green

have my car back?! it was totaled! garbage. junked. we are carless.

since you did the kitchen and the car already, you've got plenty of time to shop for yourself. Yogaata u'matzasa taamin - "matzasa" from lashon "metzia" - something special that's a bargain!

Oh my gosh I never relized what totaled meant till I read u'r whole post! Motek and we didn't hear one word of complaint from you. I wouldv'e probably gone a shtickel bazerk.
Do you have neighbors or friends who don't mind driving you to do shopping etc. Or you don't feel comfortable w/h that?

I don't feel comfortable, though have considered it. We'll manage, b'ezras Hashem.

I would like to replace the car though ...

If you want a used car, I think the best source is a car auction. I got three cars there - for myself, my sister and a friend and they were very satisfactory and a great price. You have to go with a dealer and we went with someone very knowledgeable who didn't take a lot of money. You should consider it. It's lots of fun, besides for the good prices and selection. Nice Chol Hamoed outing too!

BTW, it was a bank auction - repos and also formerly leased cars, so the cars we saw were in fairly good shape, most of them.
