I want to get my nails done professionally. Which type of manicure will last well, for hands that get washed very frequently each day?

Gel (you must go to a reliable good salon for it to be a good manicure)
or Acrylics are the best but they damage your nails so depends how important to you your nails are how much you are willing to go for them to look good.

Does the gel damage your nails or the acrylics?

The acrylics.
I mean gel is not that great either but if you remove them correctly (soak for long enough etc) then it is ok but acrylics really damage the nail.

I find that if I do nothing for a good hour after a regular manicure, it lasts quite nicely. Doesn't seem to matter so much that I wash hands or do dishes (though I guess it's better to wear gloves but I seldom bother).
I'll probably go the day before Pesach, and then re-do for the 2nd days.

what is a manicure without polish called? I see pple with clean shiny nails and it looks great and lasts. do they put something to make it shiny?
when I get polish and it gets a little nick, I want to remove it right away.

I do buffings all the time. it lasts about a week and it just gives your nails a stunning clean shine, I always do it when I go to the mivka! totally kosher!

I know you can buff yourself. it never ever worked on me yet. can you tell me how you do it, if you do it yourself?

I did it myself a few times but it never came out as good as it did when I got it done by a nail salon. Its a 4 step process and your hands feel like they are coming off only halfway through the process.. and it doesnt come out so good...

There was a while when I was doing gel manicures, and I found that they did damage my nails. One every once in a while would probably not be a huge deal, but they do take forever.

A buffing is when they rub your nails with a special stone sponge and it brings out the natural shine of the nails.
