So I've had this red blotch in my foot for many years. I've gone to several dermatologists and ultimately they say its harmless but they can't remove it. A friend told me about this homeopathic natural doctor who might be able to help. I've been communicating with this doctor sending him pics of the area and discussing the treatment plan. He's convinced he can have it removed naturally. He says I'll need around 15 appointments at $175 per appointment. I told him I'm willing to go ahead with the treatment but I want a money back guarantee. If the area is still the same after 15 sessions I want my money back. Aside from the potential problem in the event where it gets a little better but not all better, I feel that I shouldn't pay for nothing. If I hired a contractor to do work in my house and for whatever reason he couldn't do it, I don't think he'd expect to be paid. I feel its the same situation here. I'm paying for a specific result. The doctor says that he should be paid for his time either way. What are your thoughts?

I wouldn't go to a homeopath if I had consulted multiple credentialed specialists.
On the other hand, no medical professional will guarantee results. The case of the hairy hand is one of the first cases law students study in contract law. :-).

If you don't see some improvement after the first few times you should stop going.
It is very possible that you are wasting your time with this homeopath but if you didn't demand a refund from all the dermatologists who ultimately told you they can't do anything it isn't fair to demand one from him.
If you don't believe in homeopathy don't go to one. But if you do decide to go to one he deserves to be treated like any other doctor you went to.

What she said. Though it's not about fairness when compared to other doctors but about what you are being billed for...their time and services regardless of results. Just like the doctors didn't refund you when they couldn't help you he wont either. It's perfectly legitimate. And if it does take 15 sessions you should be seeing some improvement before all 15 sessions are done. If you are seeing no improvement chances are it wont magically happen after the 15th so I'd stop going.

I would sooner trust a dermatologist over a naturalist. If they say it can't be removed, it probably can't be.

I have used alternative health professionals many times, never has anyone said 15 sessions!! What is his treatment plan? Find out about his successes and ask people who have been treated with him before.
If you do go ahead though, you jolly well pay. There has never been a doctor who has garaunteed full healing yet you pay them regardless. Same same
