My almost 5 year old developed this bad habit / twitch that he started doing with his tongue and its seems to he getting worse. Telling him to stop doesnt help as he cant control it. Any suggestions on how to help him stop. Tia

The more your gonna mention it the more the more your gonna strengthen it..
If it gets out of hand run it by your pediatrician....

Bring it up with the doctor. S/he will likely say to ignore it. Many kids that age-especially boys have tics like this. Our doc said the more we fuss, the more he'll do it. Eventually one went away, another came... DS is a teenager now and he has outgrown them all. Ignoring it was very hard for me and I am not sure how successful I was, but I know I tried very hard to do so.

I know I have to ignore it but seems to be getting worse. Ill mention it to the doctor. Doesn't seem like there is anything else to do.

It might b pandas. Its something strep related that causes kids to have twitches. ask ur doc to check for pandas. good luck

omg if I had a dollar for every annoying twithcy mannerism my ds adopted when he was young I'd be drowning in dough. it was hard but eventually I learned to ignore these irritating habits, which after a time disappeared on their own. I never did find out why he felt the need to do these things, but since he eventually quit it no longer matters.

is it possible its getting worse because u r mentioning it?
im saying it as someone whos btdt
definitely talk to your pediatrician, and test for pandas, tourettes etc..
