I don't think the actual tuition was 20K (tho I believe it was in the teens), but adding in tickets, then tickets for my parents to visit me (instead of me coming home for pesach), and all the "necessary" expenses, the actual year of seminary adds up. But please don't take my estimate to be an exact cost breakdown because it wasn't meant to be, or to reflect on any "price jump" on the part of the seminary.

no michlala??
I was there 06-07
Loved it!
although, I definitely loved my year in isreal, with friends and the freedom and the growth, now that I look back Michlalah wasn't as warm and inviting as I needed back then.

One of the best years of my life!
The learning was amazing. The friends were amazing. The land was amazing. The outside experiences (shabbasim..) were amazing. (I think I still sound like a seminary girl!)
But the truth is...I don't know if I'd go back there as it is. Mrs. Tarshish was the main teacher and she really made the year for me. Her entire learning curriculum made an incredible impact on me, like no other teacher ever has. And I've had some wonderful teachers over the years. But she took everything to a whole new level.
I thank my parents often for the the expense they went through to send me (though I did bring all my own spending money ) |
Interesting how you loved it so much. I went to BC too and while I had a good year on a whole, I really didn't feel the seminary was warm at all. Many things about that place I didn't like. Im sure things have changed in the past few years.

American Israeli - went to Chedvas (its a shana bet program that accepts american Israeli's fresh outta HS)....
The most amazing trans formative year in my life. I gained so much from the classes, the relationships I formed with the staff, my friends from their are my closest friends today.
There is no way I would have married someone as emotionally healthy as my dh without the guidance of my chedvas mentors...

If I had gone to seminary it would've been long before that -- would've been in 1972. I almost went to Neve, but I got engaged and married so I didn't go.

Not sure what year you went and I agree, BC is not the warmest place.
But I was coming from a very large school and a very large camp....and I didn't need that super warm environment.
B''h I had an amazing group of friends and that with superb learning, made my year.
